Eligibility Criteria:

  • senior in the upcoming school year
  • on track to graduate
  • 2.5 or higher cumulative simple GPA
  • fewer than 10 absences in each class in Fall 2019 semester
  • fewer than 3 discipline referrals
  • have transportation to and from your internship site

Program Requirements:

  • complete a screening interview with Mrs. Wahl, Internship Program Specialist
  • complete a business etiquette course
  • attend multiple professional development sessions over the summer
  • actively participate in securing your internship placement over the summer
  • complete an interview with your potential mentor
  • attend monthly check-in meetings
  • complete 124 hours of work experience at your internship site (62 hours per semester)
  • log and reflect on your internship hours every two weeks
  • schedule and complete a site visit
  • create, implement, and reflect on SMART goals related to your professional and academic growth
  • incorporate your SMART goals and reflection into your final SEP presentation
  • follow all rules and expectations of your internship site

A successful intern will:

  • be respectful of authority and peers.
  • meet hard deadlines.
  • speak and write at the high school senior level.
  • dress appropriately for their work site, including safety clothing and equipment when necessary.
  • ask questions.
  • communicate concerns or problems with Mrs. Wahl and his or her mentor.
  • demonstrate honesty, punctuality, a cooperative attitude and willingness to learn.
  • follow all rules, regulations, and safety standards of his or her internship site and maintain confidentiality.
